Covington - Mrs. Florence Abernathy, 81, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Rudisill Nursing Home here after an illness of three years. She had been a patient at the nursing home since March 28, 1962. Born Jan. 26, 1882 in Fountain County, she was a daughter of Joseph and Joanna Booe Keller. She married Lucky Abernathy Sept. 13, 1905. He died March 12, 1960. Mrs. Abernathy was a life-long resident of Fountain County and was a member of Cooper’s Chapel UB Church. Surviving are six sons, Manford, David, Stephen and Ora, all of near Veedersburg, Kenneth of near Covington, and Dale of San Francisco, Calif.; six daughters, Mrs. Oma Coldwell of Danville, Ill. Miss Gladys Keller of Covington, Mrs. Irene Wittenmyer of Bloomingdale, Mrs. Geraldine Riley of near Frankfort, Mrs. Helen Furr of Mellott and Mrs. Sylvia Coffing of near Covington; three brothers, John Keller of Mendon, Mich., Harvey keller of near Attica and Clyde Keller of Yeddo; 47 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here with Rev. Alfred Dobbs and Rev. Thomas Stapp officiating. Burial will be in Cooper’s Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
